During the month of March, homerooms of Jamesville-DeWitt High School raised money for Pennies for Patients. This is a foundation that benefits the Leukemia and Lymphoma Societies. Guidance Counselor Laura Bond organized it so that all the ninth, tenth, eleventh, and twelth grade homerooms competed against their own grades. Each homeroom was given a box to fill with spare change and the winner got a donut breakfast. During the first week, english teacher Matthew Phillip’s freshman homeroom raised $150 and english teacher Kristin Hardy’s freshman homeroom raised $134. Going into the last week we were $145 short of our $900 goal, said Mrs. Bond, but after all the money had been collected J-DHS was able to raise a total of $1000 for this great cause.
