After months of watching and waiting for the first part of the new addition to Wegmans, it is finally here. This new addition includes a burger bar and more seating in the back area and on the patio. The opening day for the long awaited extension to Wegmans was August 21. Since then students at Jamesville-DeWitt High School, including senior Owen Farchione, have visited it many times, “(The new addition) is awesome, the seating is nicer than before and the food at The Burger Bar is delicious,” said Farchione.
Besides Farchione, many other J-D students have been raving about the Burger Bar. “I did not expect the burgers there to be as good as they are,” said senior Catherine Cargian. Sophomore Tyler Brang agreed with Cargian. “I did not think that Wegmans would be able to make great tasting burgers, but I was wrong,” said Brang. Junior Mateo Santos went to the extreme, saying that the quarter pound cheese burger he ordered at Wegmans was “the best burger I have ever had.”
The Wegmans Burger Bar has much more to offer than just burgers. Some of the other menu items include Sandwiches, Signature Sundaes, Milkshakes, Salads, and more. The most popular menu item among students, besides burgers was the milkshakes. “I always get a chocolate milkshake when I go to Wegmans now,” said sophomore Fiona McNeil. Sophomore Kelli Wright expanded on that and said that the milkshakes at the Burger Bar are “worth the $5.”
Other students did not feel the same about the Burger Bar. Freshman Courtney Keough did not enjoy her experience; “they messed up my order,” said Keough. Keough also thought that the addition to Wegmans was not needed because it was already big enough. The DeWitt Wegmans was already the largest store in the 92-store chain, and this 12,350 square foot expansion just makes it even bigger. “If I had never been to Wegmans before I would get lost within five seconds,” said junior Mia Antonucci, who agreed with Keough.
With the addition of the Burger Bar to Wegmans you can expect to see J-D students there after school and on the weekends. This was summarized by senior Ben Fleet, who stated “I’ll be at the Burger Bar for the rest of the year after school.”
