Tucked away in a bare Shoppingtown Mall, across from Journey's, lies Yogen Fruz, a frozen yogurt shop that has an appealing modern look. The walls are as white as snow and the fluorescent lighting really catches the eye.

On a recent Thursday visit, I approached the desk to see an attractive and clean place that was more than welcoming to any new customer. Two customers were ordering and sampling the original frozen yogurt. Their faces lit up and their "Mmmm.."s demonstrated how delicious their treats were.

Yogen Fruz features five main products. First is the frozen yogurt, which can be blended with your choice of fruits: banana, strawberry, blueberry, blackberry, raspberry, pineapple, cantaloupe, honeydew melon, watermelon, kiwi, mango, or peaches. Then the yogurt can be topped with almonds, granola, shaved chocolate, coconut, yogurt chips, Captain Crunch, Fruit Loops, Oreo cookies, strawberries, blueberries, bananas, blackberries, pineapples, kiwi fruit, raspberries, or mangos.

I could try a sample because it was my first time at the shop. I got a little paper cup of the original frozen yogurt. I slurped it down very quickly. It was light and had a subtle taste of lemon. The texture was not grainy, but instead smooth and creamy. Delicious.

I ordered a small strawberry-blended frozen yogurt topped with fresh mango. It cost me $4.21, which is a little expensive; on my tight budget, that price is quite heavy on the wallet. But it was well worth it. The strawberry flavor was very delicious. I couldn't taste the actual frozen yogurt behind it or that hint of lemon, but I was very satisfied. One critique is the mango was a little dry and hard, but this is because the fresh fruit sits out all day in chilled buckets under the counter.

In front of the restaurant there are general tables for everyone to use no matter what restaurant you are eating at.

Overall, I liked Yogen Fruz. The service was friendly and the frozen yogurt was refreshing. When it hit my mouth, it cooled me down. Their frozen yogurt would be nice on a warm, sunny, summer day.
