Fall Sports Wrap Ups

Varsity Boys' Golf: The J-DHS Varsity Boys' Golf team started out the season with a solid record of 8-1. Coach Doug Wilson hopes that the strong squad becomes league champions and qualifies six players for sectional play in the spring. Already the team has qualified five of their players for the post-season competition. Senior captain Jake Merola says that this year's team is looking bright and that he is proud of how they have done so far.

Varsity Boys' Cross Country: The Varsity Boys Cross Country squad did it again, they took home the Section III Championship for the second straight year. Behind Dan Frank (junior) who finished first at the meet the red rams posted 33 points defeating rivals East-Syracuse Minoa and Auburn. Others who helped the team accomplish this goal were key contributors, Jacob Gorke (senior) and Eamon Kissane (senior).

Varsity Girls' Cross Country: Claiming yet another Section III Championship for Jamesville-DeWitt the Varsity Girls Cross Country team flexed their strength, scoring 29 points beating out Whitesboro who didn't even come close, as they scored 59 points. Ameena Dye (junior), finished second place overall at the meeting, and Eileen Cody (senior) finished third displaying the depth that this team truly had

Varsity Girls' Soccer: The Jamesville-DeWitt Varsity Girls Soccer team finished off what they have never been able to do in the history of the program- take home the Section III Championship. Defeating East-Syracuse Minoa in a four goal blowout, Jessica Holmes, a sophomore, netted two goals leading her team to success, backed up by Tessa Devereaux, a sophomore, and Renee Keller, a junior, who also both scored a goal. The girls were ousted by Burnt Hills in the Regional Semifinals and finished the season with 17 wins and three losses.

Varsity Girls' Tennis: An air of confidence surrouned the Lady Red Ram's Tennis team as defending Onondaga League champions. The team returned five starters. Senior and co-captain Priya Gupta led the way, qualifying for sectionals. The girls made a deep run in the Section III Tournament, but was ousted by Skaneatle

Varsity Girls' Swimming and Diving: Led by senior Bridget O'Grady and juniors Sammy Rippon and Jilly Rippon , the team has had an impressive season. The team qualified many swimmers for the Section III Championships and were hoping to capture a title. The team fell a little short, but was able to place second in Class B with strong performances from team leaders like junior Katie Comanici.

Varsity Football: New Head Coach Eric Ormond's first year is proved to be an improvement from previous years. Seniors Kenny Schunck and Cody Marsh led the defense. Junior quarterback Davi Sacco and fellow junior running back Ahkeen Williams anchor the offense. The team suffered a tough loss on homecoming, but a sectional berth seems to be in the cards.

Varsity Boys' Soccer: The Jamesville-DeWitt Varsity Boys' Soccer team had an extremely impressive season, losing in the Section III Championship game to a tough New Hartford team. Key returners next season will include juniors Zander El-Hindi, Steve Aziz, Zach Tanner, sophomores Noel Williams, Jimmy Fazio, Tom Lukow, and freshman Anthony Epifani.

Varsity Girls' Gymnastics: The team is having another impressive year, led by juniors McKinley Gray and Kelsey Cook. They even managed to steal another Section III Title this year. The "Rammets" flipped, twisted, and cartwheeled their way past the competition. Kelsey Cook also qualified to move onto the state competition with her impressive moves.
