Out with the old and in with the new.

As this year's seniors prepare for life after high school, it's time for the junior class to start to think about next fall, which begins their last "hoorah" at Jamesville- Dewitt High School.

For the most part, the class of 2011 is excited and ready to embrace senior year with open arms. "Hell yeah, I'm ready for senior year!" says junior Dan Distefano. "I'm ready both mentally and physically."

Others more humbly said that they are excited about next year. "It's going to be a lot of fun," says junior Deanna Gross. "You still have to work hard to prepare for college and whatnot, but I'm looking forward to the last step and enjoying the last year we are going to be together."

However, not all agree with the idea that senior year will contain a lot of hard work to be done. Common thought that ran through the heads of most juniors is that the workload gets much lighter. "I'm ready for a nice, easy year," says junior Connor Headd. "We've been working so hard for the past three years to get us to the point where we are today. Now I'm just looking forward to a light school year filled with college preparation and making more memories with friends before we all leave," says Headd.

"I'm not saying there's going to be no work and that you shouldn't still try, but I think the workload is going to be so much easier than past years. I really think it's going to be a breeze, at least for me," Distefano says with a grin and a slight chuckle.

Still, there are others who feel that senior year wont be as much as a breeze as some people think. "I don't feel as if the work load is going to get significantly lighter," says junior Sarah Wood. "Sure there will be a little less work but with college applications and going through the process of selecting a college, there is still a good amount of work to be done."

One thing is common for most juniors, and that is the fact that next year is going to come to, what junior Ally Loewy calls, "a very bittersweet ending."

"Thank God high school's only four years long, but it will be sad to take the final step forward as a Red Ram and part ways from the people who have surrounded you for the past few years," says Loewy.

Indeed, the parting of friends is a major thought with juniors. "I'm looking forward to moving on but I'm not looking forward to leaving my friends. Luckily we still have time to make a few more memories though before we leave," said Gross.
