At Jamesville-Dewitt High School, students and staff are planning to make a difference in Haiti. With ambassadors from almost every club, several teams, and two parent groups, a steering committee has been formed for a major fundraising event, "Hoops for Haiti."
"Hoops for Haiti" will be held on January 31st from 2:00 pm to 4:30 pm in the high school's Main Gym area. Tickets will be sold during lunches all week, for $4.00 presale. They will cost $5.00 at the door. Families are $15.00. Children under 10 are free. The event will include raffles, sports exhibitions, musical performances, concessions, and games with prizes. All profits will go directly to an organization providing assistance to the victims of the Haitian earthquakes.
The event is organized by teacher Donna Oppedisano with help from students Nick Griffith and Liz Hauser. See Mrs. Oppedisano in B10 for more information about the event.
